A recent federal court ruling involving the Chicago Cubs caught my attention.
A judge barred a nearby rooftop venue from selling tickets to watch Cubs games from its private property, siding with the team in a dispute over the live game experience.
That is an interesting question from a CRE standpoint:
If you own private property next to a stadium, how much value can you create from the view before it becomes part of the stadium’s product?
We see the value of those views here too, with offices around Durham Bulls Athletic Park and major stadium-adjacent buildings in Charlotte.
In some locations, the view itself becomes part of the real estate.
