A major stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina has reopened following a $100+ million rehabilitation project.
The work covered roughly 75 miles, from just north of Doughton Park to near Grandfather Mountain.
π§ This was more than a paving project. Crews also repaired drainage systems, overlooks, walkways, guardrails, shoulders, and signage.
π The timing is especially good for fall travel, with the reopened section connecting popular stops around Boone and Blowing Rock, including Doughton Park, Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, Julian Price Memorial Park, and the Linn Cove Viaduct.
π October is typically prime fall-color season along the Parkway, which makes getting this section reopened before peak traffic a big win for western North Carolina.
For commercial real estate and economic development, infrastructure like this matters. Better access supports tourism, hospitality, restaurants, retail, and the small mountain communities that depend heavily on visitor traffic.
Not all of the Parkway is fully open yet, as some areas farther south are still affected by Hurricane Helene damage.
