๐Ÿ˜๏ธ A Church Expansion With a Housing Component

Sep 25, 2026 | News

Holy Trinity Anglican Church is proposing a new site along Old Lystra Road in southern Orange County, and the plan includes more than just a new church.

โ›ช The church is proposing a 10,000-square-foot, two-story facility after outgrowing its current location on U.S. 15-501.

๐Ÿ  The project would also include two single-family homes and up to eight affordable duplex tiny homes for people transitioning out of homelessness.

๐Ÿ’ต The housing piece comes as affordability continues to be a challenge in Orange County. According to the article, a person would need to earn more than $30 per hour to afford a two-bedroom apartment at fair market rent.

๐Ÿ“ The proposal still needs approval from Orange County and Chapel Hill leaders.

If approved, the church hopes to break ground next year and move into the new facility by 2028.

Itโ€™s an interesting example of how institutional development can be paired with a broader community need.
