Starting September 8, Lake Wheeler Road through Dix Park will close to through traffic, with the closure expected to last until summer 2028.
The project is more than a repaving job:
🚶 New sidewalks and crosswalks
🚲 A bike path along the park
🔄 Multiple new roundabouts
🚌 Expanded GoRaleigh service near Dix Park
🚗 A lower 25 mph speed limit
The city awarded a $21.8 million construction contract for the work.
For anyone who lives, works, develops, or owns property around Dix Park and South Raleigh, this is a meaningful access change to keep on the radar over the next two years.
